East trip to Rome on a weekend It allows us to return to Italy for the tenth time, this time to meet again with one of its cities with more history, in which we were already 8 years ago, on a trip to Rome in 6 days.

On this occasion the visit will be shorter, enjoying Rome on a weekend, focusing not so much on visits but on enjoying walking around the city and meeting again with those places that we have a special memory of and those we were looking forward to returning to.
We will fly on Friday afternoon, arriving in Rome at 9 pm, so this first day will not give us more time than to arrive in the city, have dinner and rest to start the next day to enjoy our weekend in Rome.
Thanks to Una Hotels, which we met a few months ago on the trip to Naples and Pompeii, we will stay at the Una Hotel Roma, right next to Termini, a very central location that will also allow us to reach the hotel directly from the Airport and on the day back do not waste time with transfers.

As we mentioned earlier the planning of Rome on a weekend It has happened to include all those important places in the city, which are many, that we wanted to see again and especially enjoy walking around the city. While this itinerary can be adapted perfectly to anyone visiting the city for the first time, adding visits to the interior of the most interesting places such as the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, Vatican ... etc. A good option if you are going to visit its main monuments and buildings is to book the WMO Vatican and the Rome Card, you will save time and money.

On Saturday we will start the day passing Santa Maria Maria Maggiore, located next to the hotel, and then head towards the Colosseum, passing before the Basilica San Pietro in Vincoli, where the Moses of Michelangelo is located and where we can not stop entering contemplate one of the most beautiful works of art we have ever seen.
After the Colosseum, we will go to the Arch of Constantine and then to the Plaza del Campidoglio, where we were not on our previous visit and from where we have read there are stunning views of the Roman Forum.

From here we will go to the Victor Manuel Monument, where on this occasion we do not plan to miss going up to the elevator and enjoy the incredible views of the Colosseum and the city of Rome, which we did not do on our previous visit.
After this visit, we will go to the Trajan's Column, to the Trajan's Market, the Pantheon of Agripa, where despite already knowing it we will not miss re-entering and of course, despite knowing that it is one of the most expensive areas of the city, sit down for a drink in one of the terraces that surround it.

After this stop, we will continue to the Navona Square, where we can enjoy the Fountain of the Four Rivers, under construction the first time we were in the city.

From here we will approach the Via dei Coronari, known for its antique shops, to arrive later at the Sant'Angelo Castle, which we visited on our previous visit, but which we are looking forward to seeing again.
From here we can go to the Vatican, another point that we could not miss again, also enjoying its views from the Gianicolo, from where we have been told, we will have unique views.

After this day, we intuit the most intense, the idea is to finish it in the best possible way and how could it be otherwise, that happens by entering one of the most famous neighborhoods of Rome, the Trastevere, where we plan to enjoy an afternoon-night enjoying the atmosphere of its streets and also its gastronomy, another of the many reasons to enjoy Rome on a weekend.

But before returning to the hotel to rest on this first day, the idea is to go back to the Sant'Angelo Castle, the Colosseum, the Pantheon of Agrippa, the Umberto I Bridge and the Trevi Fountain, to enjoy them on that walk back to the hotel, in the moonlight and sheltered by the stars. It doesn't sound bad right?

And so we will arrive on Sunday, that having the flight at 7 in the afternoon, we will be able to take advantage of almost the whole day, counting that the early morning will again be a constant in this Rome on a weekend.
The idea is to start by heading to the Trevi Fountain, recently restored, to be able to throw that coin back to ensure we return to Rome in the future, as it did 8 years ago.

From here we will approach the Piazza Colonna, following the Via del Corso, to arrive later at the Piazza del Popolo, which we have known a few days ago are being restored.
We will continue the tour of the Via dei Babuino, to reach the famous Plaza de España, where we hope to enjoy a rest in the area, with a good coffee in our hands with which to take energy to continue the day.

From here we will continue on Via Condotti, Via Frattini to arrive later at Palazzeto Zuccari and Piazza Barberini, where we will end this route Rome on a weekend.

We know it is an itinerary for Rome on a weekend ambitious, but we believe that whether it is the first time you come to the city or if it is repeating, this tour takes you through the most emblematic places, allowing you to get to know this incredible city a little bit.

This is the first of the getaways that we have planned to return to tour the main European capitals in a weekend. Are you with us?
