Day 1: BARCELONA - DUBAI - COLOMBO

Friday June 21, 2013

Ringgggg, Ringgggg ...
Most days of our daily life begin with this sound. That alarm clock that reminds us that we must get up to go to work. Today it reminds us of the work we have to go to, but it is different, today we will leave before the office and today we leave home with a special smile ... today begins what will be ours trip to Sri Lanka and Maldivesand in a few hours we have to get on our flight Barcelona Colombo.
We have spent many months with the preparations for this trip and today finally, all those preparations, all those ideas and above all, all those desires, will begin to take shape ...

Prepared backpacks! Travel to Sri Lanka and Maldives

At 11 in the morning Roger comes to look for me at the office, with the backpacks already loaded in the car to go directly to what will be the first stop of our trip, the parking of Aparca & Go where, always, we take care of the car while we are traveling.
This time we have chosen the premium service, with which for a slightly higher cost, we will come to pick up the car at the same door of the T1 and the day we return, they will bring it to the same place, so that We avoid the transfer to the parking lot.

This service is an incredible option if you go a little bit of time or expect to get some "weird" ...
And said and done, after leaving our car safely in Park & Go We go back into that T1 del Prat that we like to get so loaded with our backpacks.
Before we check our luggage, we take the opportunity to eat some snacks and then we go straight to zone D, where we have the boarding pass and once we pass the passport control, we see that we can no longer access the commercial area, so we have to spend the time we have left between a coffee, reading and last minute review of the trip planning.

Waiting to board the flight Barcelona Colombo. Happy !! Airport of Barcelona

The first flight we will take on this trip to Sri Lanka and Maldives It will be from Emirates, from Barcelona to Dubai, where we will make a stopover of almost two hours, to catch another plane, which will take us to the capital of Sri Lanka, where we will spend the next 18 days ...
The boarding is done a few minutes late, because the crew has found traffic jams on the way to the airport, which makes us begin to doubt that we have time to make the connection in Dubai. Luckily, despite being one of the largest airports in the world, when making two flights with the same company, Emirates, flights arrive and depart from the same Terminal, so we hope to gain some time.
Today we expect a complete day of airplanes !! Flight from Barcelona to Colombo with stopover in Dubai, with a total of about 13 hours of travel.
