"SICKING" BY TANGALLE

And after so much bug in Yala we started our routine on the beaches of Sri Lanka. We had already been to Nilaveli, on the east coast, but now we are going to discover those of the south coast. And we start by Tangalle.

This area is famous for turtles They arrive at the beach at night to lay their eggs. Especially in the area of Rekawa Beach. Too bad the tourist market has arrived (like almost everything here) and you cannot enter unless you pay 1,000 rupees per head… well, seeing the panorama we are so rich in our Good Karma, that here it is well!

One of the days we left Lety working with the blog and rented a motorcycle Jordi and I to give us a loop through the area. Nearby there are some attractive points, such as the Wewrukannala Temple, with a 50-meter Buddha and several images of demons and mixed Buddhas, it has its one…

On the way we stop in a super cool little coaster with a local restaurant and a lot of charm. Tangalle is past, on a path that descends on a slope. We did not eat here, we continued the trip and stopped at another local restaurant. There we tried the typical buffet, with several vegetables and fish that itched like his mother ... And to top it off we get a bottle of what we thought was brandy ... hehe, it was actually honey to combine with the yogurt they gave us for dessert. A discovery!

Beyond is the "Blow Hole", a natural place where the days that the tide is moved the water sneaks between rocks and is shot upwards type "geyser". We did not see it, it was to arrive and see the old women with their eyes out of their orbits selling their plots so that we could park that we took the motorcycle and escaped terrified there! In addition, of course, you also have to pay a ticket I think of 350 rupees. Where we stopped, it was a few kilometers away at a local beach. There we met a whole family taking a good dip and met Nilanka, a very nice guy (and handsome to lie) who gave us some special tea leaves from this area ... mixed with the normal tea did not have much effect.

What we don't get at any damn moment is a hamburger to take to Lety, that the poor would be starving at the hotel ... or not! If we buy some supplies to survive ... nutella, chocolate cereals ... the typical thing we go ... ah! and the soups of envelope! They saved us a dinner! Is that the pool sessions leave one half dead 🙂

Of the little beach to say, it is the typical virgin beach, with little palms and km and km of sand. Jordi and I played good games of something similar to volleyball without a net and went into the sea, not much because the current was terrible.

These were relaxing days, with our little pool, our coconuts, our little house on the beach ... a luxury! Too bad for the sundflies, which apparently ate us alive. We wouldn't know until after a few days.

USEFUL INFO

How to get?

From Tissa we took a local bus that stops in Tangalle. It lasts about 2 hours and something and cost 103 rupees per person. From the station to the hotel, beyond Rekawa Beach cost 450 rupees. It is best to keep the tuctuc phone number because it is a slightly deserted area. Although we saw a local bus pass by nearby.

Where to sleep?

We stayed at the Good Karma ... a luxury!

How to move?

The motorcycle is a good idea, especially to explore other beaches. The best are those that are a few km from Tangalle towards Matara. The rent at the hotel cost us Rs 1,000 per day.
