Yesterday we arrived half dead at the Lucky Star casino in El Reno, just outside Oklahoma. We leave today the decision to visit or not the city of Oklahoma, that with all the asphalt we have swallowed we did not have the sesera to think too much. The answer was: NO! The amount of things on the road is enough to bind us in big cities. Quick breakfast (no scrambled eggs and bacon), prepare the route and ... joe, again we got in at 11 in the morning! But what's wrong with us!

Well, what has happened to us is that we had to take care of our big one, we have filled the tank with clean water and for the first time we have emptied the one with dirty water! We will already have EVERY DETAIL how the experience was ... it has no loss.

The fact is that with the motorhome in full conditions we throw ourselves on the road, although this time we are not going to get involved in narrow streets lost by fields of cows and grain, today we expect the 40WEST road that runs parallel to Route 66.

And there we circulate calmly without giving too much importance to the posters on our right ... that if Indian ceramics, that if Indian espadrilles, that if Indian cake, that if flutes, hats, more than 100 different styles of boots ... Indians ... that yes ... buffalos! Do youBuffalo? The day before we were left with the thorn of not being able to see these wonderful animals and today the opportunity presents itself again, 50 meters from the road! Is the exit 108, and in addition to having two specimens of this animal that distress a lot, there is a very cool mural and some other harvest related to the original inhabitants of these lands, the Cherokee Indians.

But our first stop of the day related to the history of Mother Road is, how could it be otherwise, one of those old gas stations that still retain the suppliers with the numbers of the last use, as paralyzed by a time bomb, is the Lucille's Service Station.

After a few miles on Route 66, since we joined her in Springfield (Missouri), we finally entered one of those charming restaurants along the route, with the tables against the wall and a soft sofa on each side, with the windows where you can see the traffic outside and the walls full of old photos. One of those we have tired of seeing in movies like Pulp Ficcion. The place, highly recommended, is the Lucille's Road House, with good food, cheap and mogollón of exhibits of Route 66.

At this stage there are many thematic museums on the route, one of the first you find is the Route 66 Museum, in Clinton. The truth is that it looks great, from the windows you can see very cool old cars and other objects ... we say from the windows because we do not enter. The $ 7 of the entrance and the miles we have left to travel convinced us completely. But a photo at its entrance could not be missing.

Where we entered was in the National Route 66 Museum of Elk City. The good thing about this site is that it is a set of several buildings set at the time when the city was alive thanks to the route, an agricultural museum, a small piece with sodas at $ 1.25, and the museum itself Route 66. The objects are not the best we have seen, but the 15-minute film about the evolution of transportation in the United States is worth it. The price is $ 5 and if you want to find it you will have no problems, it is right next to the huge sign on the main street of Elk City.

And here you have to make a break, let everyone really pay attention, seriously, PAY ATTENTION! The next character on the route is a myth, a crack, a madman, a unique type, a Route 66 guru, and his store is his sacred place. Harley He is a shameless 71-year-old man who closes his door so that we do not touch the balls the ones we go through there, but that he behaves like a whole host once you have entered his temple. Surely you get rid of some mockery, he wants to flirt with you, with your partner (or with both of them), but he quickly lends himself to making you the best photos (he knows where you have to go, and don't forget to activate the flash, for that Uncle is very meticulous), to ask you about your life and, if you're lucky, to offer you a private concert.

This peculiar guy who welcomes you with his eternal cowboy bib enters the top10 of bizarre things that have happened to us traveling.

Today it seems that I have the handsome climb, in addition to the flirts of the great Harley (in your own way, you will already notice), a woman has invited me to the roadside cafe, perhaps the name of the service station where I buy her wants to say something : LOVERS.

The route continues to turn towards towns that almost look like ghosts, with abandoned factories, other vintage service stations such as the Conoco Tower Station in Shamrock or the Philips 66 Station in McLean.

But before arriving in Amarillo there are two unmissable visits in our opinion: the first one is the Leaning Tower of Texas, at the exit before Groom, a tower and water in the purest Tower of Pisa style,

The second is the VW Slug Bug Ranch, a somewhat sinister place with 5 beetles planted on the ground as if they were meteorites fallen from Mars. It is a snack of what will come on the next day: the Cadillac Ranch.

Our parking this time is not an Indian casino, but it is not bad either. At the entrance of Yellow there is a tourist information center with a lot of space to park and spend the night; the good thing, that, although slow, we get the WiFi to the caravan! The bad: we have seen a lot of posters of rattlesnakes where they ask that if we find any, do not do anything to them ... but the hell, if I find one, the first thing I do is run away!
