The good thing about Catalan food is that it is based on the Mediterranean diet, there is no lack of fish, meat or vegetables, and everything is cooked with delicious olive oil. How lucky we are to live here! But What are the typical dishes of Catalan cuisine? What eat in Barcelona? Then we will tell you the recipes that you can not miss on your trip to Barcelona.

But first, let's answer the question of where to taste this wonderful food. Obviously you can do it in one of the many restaurants that are in the whole city, in this article we tell you our favorite restaurants in Barcelona and at good prices. Although there is an interesting alternative, which we discovered a little while ago: Eatwith. You don't know what it is? It is a community where you can get in touch with places to share culinary experiences all over the world. And in Barcelona there is a lot: look at the gastronomic experiences in Barcelona. The one that caught our attention the most is this 10-course dinner with wine pairing (it has a pint!) And one of our favorite pecking dishes is included in the menu ... cod fritters!

And now yes, here are the Typical dishes to eat in Barcelona (and in Catalonia):

It is my favorite of Catalan cuisine. In fact, one of the biggest disappointments of my life was asking for my dear white sausage and they brought me a black sausage (blood sausage type). It was like waking up Christmas morning and not finding a gift. The dish consists of a sausage made to grill, which is accompanied with mongetes (white beans) so you see, a light light dish ... but they take away what you ate! #ponunabutifarraentuvida.

It is a set of roasted vegetables, usually pepper, eggplant and onion, which is presented in a varied way: on a toast with anchovies and tuna, with goat cheese gratin, with herring, or only vegetables. I prefer a sausage butifarra since I don't like neither the red pepper, nor the anchovies nor the eggplants, but for the rest of mortals it is a delight!

It is the Catalan version of Madrid stew: It is prepared with meats (pork ear, ham bones, veal ...) and vegetables (leeks, carrots, celery, onion). Come on, a light dish, appreciated by dietitians around the world (in fact Dunkan suggested it as a snack before going to sleep) and ideal to combat the twisted heat of these days!

They are vegetables fried in olive oil. It can be eaten alone or as an accompaniment to meat and fish dishes (such as tuna or cod).

It is a cold salad prepared with desalted and crumbled cod that is combined with vegetables such as tomatoes, onions, olives, peppers and hard boiled eggs.

It is a dish as simple as good. Questioning a Catalan's ambience is like questioning an Italian's pizza ... don't do it if you don't want to start World War III! But what is it? They are sliced bread with squeezed natural tomato, salt, oil and sometimes garlic.

It may be the crown jewel of Catalan food. The calçots are an institution like Messi and Pujol together. They are not discussed. These are typical Catalan onions that are grilled and dipped in romesco sauce (prepared with a mixture of tomato, romesco peppers, pine nuts, hazelnuts, almonds, roasted garlic, parsley, and bread.).

They are very good, and I'm not very fond of "green foods." Spinach saute with pine nuts and raisins.

I already like the name. They are beef steaks cut into strips accompanied by a sauce of vegetables and mushrooms.

Do not eat them if you are on your first date. Or yes, what else if your breath could knock out an army of vampires! The aioli is practically a sauce of mayonnaise with garlic (so to summarize, that the purists do not kill us), my father fell in love with her and since then she is doomed to make this sauce at home since in Italy it does not exist. # italiapontealday

The "pastera" version of the paella. Many foreigners do not know it and when they try it they remain trustworthy for life. The pasta that is used to prepare the fideuà is a kind of spaghetti cortitos (I am explaining myself worse than a miss universe at the time of the questions, I better leave you a photo!).

Forget about the Catalan cream, the best Catalan dessert is the mel y mató: how delicious it is! It is prepared with mató (curd type) and a generous stream of honey is put on it ... to suck your fingers. If you accompany it with a few pieces of nuts, it will seem to be in heaven!

Did you like them? Do you know any other typical dish of Catalan cuisine or more dishes what to eat in Barcelona?
